Salone del Mobile 2017

Did you make it to Milan this year for the Design Week? If you didn’t, fear not. Mia and Katie are back to tell us about the show stopping pieces and exclusive parties they attended.

As a Senior Designer at Accouter Design, Mia embarked on her journey to Milan with one mission; to discover the most innovative designs for her discerning clients. With an eye for the incomparable, Mia uncovered a new piece by Marcel Wanders, presented by Wonder Glass; Calliope. Inspired by Japanese calligraphy and created out of hand blown Murano glass, this lighting system was designed to be poetic and graceful.

Not only were Wonder Glass Mia’s design protagonist of Milan 2017, they also invited Mia to Barnaba Fornasetti’s exclusive house party to sip champagne with influencers in the design & Fashion industry.

Katie, an A.LONDON Interior Designer described Salone del Mobile as “atmospheric” and “exceptional”. With an eye for intrinsic detail, Katie’s show-stopping piece of the week was Invisible Outlines by Nendo at Jil Sander. The Jellyfish Vases are created with ultrathin transparent silicon which makes them dance like jellyfish. As one of the most-shared installations and exhibition from this years Milan design week, it is safe to say the girls experienced an outstanding 56th edition of Salone Del Mobile.
